The Hibiscus Coast Community RSA originally started its life in February 1948 as the Kaipara Returned Services Association (Silverdale Branch). It became the Silverdale & Districts Returned Services Association in October 1964.
The original clubrooms were in the heart of old Silverdale, close to the Rugby club on the Hibiscus Coast Highway.
In April 1985 we moved to the present site in Vipond Road and had a slight name change at that time to the Silverdale and Districts Returned Services Association. In October 2015 the current name of The Hibiscus Coast Community Returned Services Association was adopted to reflect or geographical position on the Coast as well as our radical restructuring of our business to encourage our community to become a part of us.
Part of a Proud Tradition
The R.S.A movement was formed in New Zealand in 1916 by returning Anzacs during World War One to provide support and comfort for service men and women and their families. Established in 1917 to provide a supportive social club for returned soldiers, The Royal New Zealand Returned Services Association honours tradition and community. Today we have 120,000 members throughout New Zealand.
People join us because they want to connect with the values we foster, because it’s a great place to socialise and bring the family, and because they want to keep New Zealand communities, safe, fun, healthy, and inclusive.
